Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have done a fresh install of Windows 10 on my HP HDX X18-1206TX Premium Notebook PC

I have had no luck finding the bluetooth driver for this notebook.

Could someone please point me in the right direction as after scouring the web for hours I have found nothing that works.

Thank you so very much. Sincerely, Damian (jamtrip)

Hi, Driver Booster is a good software to help you get the latest and up-to-date drivers. Try it out and see if it works for you.

Keep me posted on this.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have now tried DriverPass, DriverFix and IObit's Driver Booster but none have come up with a Bluetooth driver. The search continues...

You can also try the HP Support Assistant as well.

Hi, @jamtrip

Not all HP HDX18 notebooks came with built in Bluetooth.

If you are 100% sure that yours had Bluetooth when it had the original Windows Vista operating system installed, then most likely what has happened is the HP Bluetooth module was turned off with the HP wireless assistant utility when the PC was upgraded to W10 at some point.

W10 automatically installs the Bluetooth driver for the HP Bluetooth 2.0 module, so there is no need to look for drivers.

If there is no Bluetooth device manager category, the easiest way to restore the Bluetooth would be to make a bootable ubuntu installer from the link below.

https://ubuntu.com/download

Here is a tutorial for how to make the bootable installer:

Create a bootable USB stick with Rufus on Windows | Ubuntu

Boot from the Ubuntu installer and select the option to 'Try Ubuntu without installing.'

Then turn on the Bluetooth radio in Ubuntu.

You can then shut down the PC, remove the Ubuntu installer, turn on the PC and when you are back into Windows, the Bluetooth device should be present again.

I am now searching for HP Bluetooth 2.0 module driver - thank you for posting the type of module

You're very welcome.

As I wrote earlier, you have to see a Bluetooth category in the device manager in order for any driver to install.

W10 automatically installs the driver.  I have two HP notebooks with the same Bluetooth module.

The HP Bluetooth 2.0 module only had driver support up to Windows 7.

The driver for W7 is below...

This package contains the software required to support the HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology in the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. The HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology provides wireless connectivity to other devices from the integrated module of the supported notebooks/laptops. It also provides additional Bluetooth Profiles.
