Hello,

My Bluetooth driver isn't working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the original driver "Intel WiFi Link 5100AGN" and the computer gave this error "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (Code 19)".

How do I repair a Code 19 issue in the registry?

Thanks in advance.

Asher

Hi:

The Intel 5100 wifi adapter is not a combination wifi/bluetooth adapter.

Your notebook has the separate HP bluetooth module that uses a separate bluetooth driver.

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to right-click on the Intel 5100 wifi adapter, select Uninstall and check the Uninstall Driver box.

Restart the PC and see if Windows sorts the problem out.

If not, install this wifi driver...

You need this bluetooth driver...

This package contains the software required to support the HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology in the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. The HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology provides wireless connectivity to other devices from the integrated module of the supported notebooks/laptops. It also provides additional Bluetooth Profiles.

Hello Paul,

Thanks for getting back to me. According to HP Customer Support page the Intel WiFi Link 5100AGN is a combination bluetooth adapter. See link below:

I installed the wifi driver and bluetooth driver you recommended and still have the same issue (Code 19)

How would I repair the registry to have my bluetooth adapter working?

You're very welcome, Asher.

That is correct.

The notebook does come with built in bluetooth, but that spec doesn't mean the wifi card is a combination wifi/bluetooth adapter.  Notebooks from that era had a separate wifi card and a separate bluetooth module.

Here is the link to the Intel 5100 wifi card specs...no bluetooth...

https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/wifi-link-5100-brief.pdf

Here is the link to the parts list for your notebook...note the separate bluetooth module part number...Next to the Router description on the left.

Fixing the registry...unfortunately I would have no idea what to do about that if the above step didn't work.

The only other easy thing to try would be to do a system restore, and pick a restore point to a time when the wifi card was working properly.

If that doesn't work, then I would factory reset the notebook, or clean install W7.

If you do not see a Bluetooth category in the device manager, then you need to install the HP wireless assistant software, restart the PC and use that software to enable the bluetooth.

This package contains the HP Wireless Assistant for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The HP Wireless Assistant is a user application that shows the status of individual wireless devices (such as Bluetooth, WLAN, or WWAN devices) and that provides the ability to control the radios for these wireless devices.
