My Bluetooth has disappeared completely from my notebook. Earlier I used to use it frequently. Now the Bluetooth Icon doesnt show up anywhere. Not in Device Manager or In the Action Centre. I downloaded the ralink/ motorola bluetooth adapter driver but everytime i try to install it a window pops up saying the bluetooth hardware needs to be turned on for the set up to start. I tried locating it but to no avail. Pls help all you brilliant experts out there.
thank you

Hi:
If you recently upgraded from W7 to W10, most likely the bluetooth was turned off via the HP connection manager or wireless assistant.
Since neither of those programs work on W10, the easiest way to turn on the bluetooth would be to make a bootable Ubuntu installer, and turn the BT on. You do not have to install Ubuntu on the hard drive.
Select the option to try Ubuntu without installing.

Otherwise, you will have to go back to W7, install the HPWA or Connection Manager software, turn on the bluetooth, uninstall the software, verify the BT is still on, and then reinstall W10.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I tried reinstalling the drivers one last time and on restarting the laptop the bluetooth (Generic Bluetooth Adapter) came on in Device Manager and Action Centre. BUT now the problem is it won't connect to other devices. (My mobile, headset etc). It shows the bluetooth continously scanning for devices but not capturing/finding any devices. I tried the Hardware&Devices troubleshooting in advanced mode... but it says it can't do the diagnostics coz of some error. ERROR CODE 0x80070057. This Error also shows up during Windows Updates when the update starts but stops around 83 to 85%. It is really frustrating that I open my laptop to get work done and I end up hours doing diagnostic checks troubleshooting etc. Pls if you could help to smoothen out these problems it would be great. THANK YOU once again for your earlier reply.

You're very welcome.
The Bluetooth can't connect because the driver isn't installed.
You should be seeing a Ralink/Motorola Bluetooth adapter listed there.
The problem is...there are no W10 Bluetooth drivers for that model Bluetooth adapter, and I don't believe the W7 driver will work.
