Microsoft Windows 11

Tried to use Bluetooth for the first time, no success. The laptop is not detected by other units and cannot detect any units either. Since I´ve never used this facility, I may do something wrong. But all settings (there is but one) seems to be right. Very grateful for help on this.

Make sure the device manager shows the Bluetooth device.  It could be listed in several locations

Look in Human Interface Devices

If not there then try under Bluetooth

Possibly the bluetooth is not waking up when the computer wakes up,. If that symptom shows up then uncheck the power management boxes shown above.

Possibly Bluetooth is turned off on your pc;. Enter Bluetooth in the windows search bar and see if it is enabled

Tanks for your reply. I have quite a different GUI from you, but the Bluetooth is listed and also turned on, appearing nicely in the activity field. But not receiving or transmitting. I have also run the internal trouble shooting scheme, but no result. Interesting though, I found the unit in my phone, but it would not connect. Apparently it have worked sometime before, but not now. Also the internal microphone has stopped working, and maybe I should have the whole unit serviced.

There may be a driver problem, long shot, but I think I have all the latest drivers. Not sure though.  Is there any specific driver, HP, Windows or BIOS I should look for?

Did the device manager show any errors?  If so that's where you would look to update the driver.

Previously, was the PC every connected to the device?

For example

If you see the device then remove it and add it back in.

If your smartphone cannot connect to it that is the indication of a problem.  The device may need to be reset, or there is a hardware defect.

Thanks again. I did the internal test, but it did not indicate any error. The device   seems to be there all right, but it does not work, It does not show on external units and does not detect any itself. Also, Windows tells me I have the lates updates. But I have still warranty time left, so I guess that will be it then. Anyway, thanks for your efforts!

Did you try removing it from the list of BlueTooth devices?

Try removing it then then do a search and try to pair it.

You mentioned the internal microphone is not working.

The windows device manager should show a problem.

Are there any warning or caution symbols?

I suspect  HP will only work on a problem if UEFI diagnostics shows a problem.

You mentioned that your smart phone was unable to connect to it.  The device needs to be in pairing mode to be found.

If the device shows up but does not work I have found it necessary to delete it and and then add it back in.

Good lucki!

Hi Beemer,

Now, suddenly, Bluetooth works. Just out of the blue.....but there was a Windows 11 update today (an hour ago), and it handled bugs concerning Bluetooth. Maybe that was the solution. Still though, the microphone does not work, not even an external one.

When the internal mic quit, I tried an external via the Bluetooth. That´s how I discovered the failing Bluetooth. But now, none of the microphones works. And HP support has spent hours trying to fix it (remotely).

But again, thanks for your help! 🙂
