HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15-n040us Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I'm trying to figure out if my laptop has bluetooth. I've gone into Device manager and looked and I don't see Bluetooth anywhere. I had the HP virtual assistant run something and she asked if I could see Bluetooth in Device Manager and when I said no She said my device doesn't have it.

my laptop is a HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15-n040us Notebook PC

About a year ago I had to have my system wiped and everything reinstalled and I swear before that I had bluetooth on here. Though I can't be too sure.

Under Network Adapters I have Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn Wi-fi Adapter

Going into Services I have Bluetooth Support Services set to Automatic Start up

The fact that there is a Bluetooth Support service to me suggestions my laptop is capable of it but I could be wrong.

So can someone tell me if my laptop is capable of bluetooth and if it is, how I can get it to work because I am at a loss.

forgive me if this is the wrong place for this, I'm new. Also, if any additional information is needed please let me know.

Thank you

Also, in my remove programs list I have Intel bluetooth I downloaded... yet... I cant find it or know if it's running

It specs

         https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c03910895

It does NOT have Bluetooth built-in, it ONLY has

Network Card
10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)
Wireless Connectivity
1x1 802.11b/g/n WLAN

Your machine was built around 2013/2014, you can use the following adapters (with Bluetooth)

  • Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter for use on all computer models part # 675794-001
  • Ralink RT3290LE 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter for use on all computer models part # 690020-001
  • Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter for use on all computer models part # 709848-001
  • Mediatek MT7630E 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter and Mediatek Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter for use only on computer models equipped with an AMD processor part # 710418-001
  • Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 WLAN module for use only on computer models in Japan part # 717384-001

Other option: Use USB dongle such as

                http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/targus-bluetooth-4-0-usb-adaptor-taacb75au

There are many brands and models around, cheaper too.

Regards.
