Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Bluetooth is turned off on model 15-BW053od although Bluetooth support service is running.  Seems to be why I can use my mouse anymore which is very frustrating.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can provide.

Ron

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand that your experiencing a Bluetooth connectivity issue with the HP laptop, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?
  • What is the exact issue with the Bluetooth mouse?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Echo_Lake, thanks for getting back to me.  No changes were made to the computer, it worked the last time I used

the laptop (about 3 weeks ago), and the exact issue is that the mouse no longer works and I am not able to find

any tab that would enable the laptop's bluetooth feature.  Because it now acts like there is no bluetooth feature on this laptop, I purchased a Bluetooth USB dongle and was able to reconnect the Logitech M535 mouse.  However this takes up a USB port which is not preferable.

I followed other suggestions but to no avail.   Note this is a HP 15-BW053od laptop.  Bluetooth was not listed in Device Manger and in the Services window, I tried stopping the Bluetooth Support Service and restarted it but still did not see a Button in the Settings window to turn on the Bluetooth.  I was also not able to re-download the Realtek Bluetooth 4.2 adapter driver thinking that maybe somehow the driver had become corrupted.  So you can see that I've tried to follow various directions to no avail.

What suggestions do you have to enable the bluetooth?  It would help to discuss this on the phone so if that is an option, please let me know.

Regards,

Ron

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. The last thing I can suggest trying to restore a computer back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

If you still need additional technical assistance that can be better provided through one-on-one interaction, then you can contact our HP Support team.  HP Support  can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
