HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 11

I work as an IT support consultant at my university and a new student came to us asking for help setting up their new laptop. We went through the install process as usual and ran every Windows update, as well as any HP firmware that needed updating. The laptop connects fine to ethernet through the USB-C port, but the wireless network adapter will not show up in Device Manager no matter what I do.

I've tried installing several different drivers from HP, and then I tried the direct drivers from Intel (AX201) but nothing is working. When I go into the control panel to see all the network adapters, the only one that shows up is the ethernet adapter. I've also run the HP assistant and it hasn't been able to install the drivers. It seems like they'll install, but the adapter doesn't appear afterward.

I'm not sure what else to try aside from a bunch of small things that might work, and I'd really like to avoid replacing the laptop as they bought it the same day they brought it to me. As far as I know, there is nothing else installed on the laptop that could be interfering with the drivers.
