I have Xfinity 300 Mbps internet service. My Broadcom adapter was reporting just 72 Mbps. With no solution offered by Comcast, I kept digging and I changed the configuration for the Bandwidth Capability (under Advanced tab) to 11b/g:20Mhz to 11b/g:20/40Mhz, and it now reports speed of 150 Mbps. I thought that was the key, but Speedtest still reports 40-50 Mbps. Will a higher speed add-on adapter improve wifi speed?

The existing adapter supports 2.4GHz only. Please try

Okay, I had already seen this list. I went the cheap route and ordered the TP-Link Nano 150 Mbps which showed no improvement...still throttled at 72 Mbps. Which do you suggest? This is what the TP technician recommended:
