is it true that this wlan adapter does not comply with 802.11 ac? supoosedly my notebook 15-ak030nd should have 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (1x1). My fritzbox does not seem to think it has, nor do I see any indication in the specifications of the card

Hi:
The Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi M.2 Adapter is a single band wireless N card with bluetooth.
No AC capability.
But I agree that either the product specs for your model are incorrect, or HP stuck the wrong card in your notebook.
If the specs are correct then you should probably have gotten the Intel 3165 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.0 combo.
I looked up the parts list for your model, but there is no info provided when I enter the product number.

I suggest you contact HP and get a definite answer as to what wireless card your notebook should have.

You're very welcome.
I disagree with HP for sure that the card is AC.
The Broadcom specs list it as N only.

The Intel 3165 AC card, which your PC does not have, will only work on an AC router on the 5.0 GHz band, as far as I know.
The card you have is a single band wireless N card, which will only work on the 2.4 GHz band.
Unfortunately, I don't know what other consumer class notebooks are available with dual band wireless N or AC cards.
I only use the HP business notebooks.
That is also not true that only Probooks have dual band cards.
There are probably some consumer class notebooks that have dual band cards.
I will agree that they will be hard to find, but there are some.

Hi
I have an issue with this wifi adapter too. Sometimes it connects fine to my wireless network at home and other times
it says "Windows cannot connect to this network". It's been driving me mad for ages!
I'm know the problem is the wifi card because the problem goes away when I use a USB wifi dongle. I'm thinking that the problem might be to do with my router being dual band on fibre, and my laptop only having this card which only uses the 2.4 GHz band.
I have no issues with the 2 ipads & 2 iphones in my household, or my 2007 Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7!
Why can I sometimes not connect my HP laptop to my wifi network? Can anyone suggest anything as I feel like throwing
it in the trash!
Thanks.
Tim
