I have had this laptop for more than two years. Every time there has been a driver update for the Broadcom Wifi Adapter my adapter quits working. The only driver that ever worked was 6.30.223.256. In January I paid a technician to reinstall the original driver. On Saturday there was an update and a new driver was installed. My adapter hasn't worked since, and the device manager won't let me rollback to the original driver. I haven't been able to find this older driver anywhere online. Can anyone help?

Have you checked your Support page?
What is the full Model Number and/or Product Number of your envy?

Cheryl,
Thanks for your quick response. I did access the driver downloads that were available for my laptop on hp support. The one I am looking for isn't there. My laptop is an HP Envy 15 with Touchscreen. The product number is K2T35AV.

Hi:
The driver you want is the default W10 windows driver for the Broadcom wifi card your notebook has.
HP does not have such a driver, which is why you can't find it.
To change to the 6.30.223.256 driver, see if you can reinstall it this way...
Go to the Windows Control Panel>Device Manager>Network Adapters>Broadcom 43142 network adapter>Driver Tab>Update Driver>Browse my computer for driver software, then at the bottom of that window>Let Me Pick from a list of device drivers on my computer>then choose the BroadCom 802.11n Network Adapter that is listed, and the driver version you want.
You may also want to try this driver if this isn't the one that Wndows is automatically installing...
This package provides the Broadcom Wireless LAN drivers for supported notebook models running a supported operating system. Broadcom Wireless LAN drivers are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN adapter.

Try using HP Recovery Manager to reinstall the original Broadcom driver:

Thank you for your response.
I had already tried to update the drive through device manager. It installs, but then gives this message: "Device PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_2230103C&REV_01\4&28fcc278&0&00E0 requires further installation."
The link that you gave for the 10-25-16 version of the driver is for the same driver that updated on Saturday through Windows Update and it doesn't work.

You're very welcome.
Sorry that didn't work.
This is the closest driver I could find to the one that works for you...
6.30.223.267 Rev.A
This package contains the Broadcom Wireless LAN Drivers that are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN Adapter in supported notebooks that are running a supported operating system.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72931.exe
Then there is the previous version but for some reason 256 isn't listed.

Recovery manager does not list the Broadcom Adapter driver. There are only 4 items on the list: 3 are Intel and one is Reltek Audio.
I tried to use a restore point today to undo Saturday's update, but the operation would not complete. I disabled my malware protection and Window's Security and used safe mode and it would still not complete.
My last option is to install an image of my disk that is about two weeks old. However, what will prevent an update from occuring and causing problems again. This has been going on for about a year and has caused many lost days of productivity and technician fees.

Hi:
You can use this utility to hide the update from installing.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026726/windows-hide-windows-updates-or-driver-updates
It will remain hidden until you run the utility again to unhide it.

Paul,
I downloaded both driver's. Setup failed on both of them. Setup starts and then aborts. The setup.exe files are there, so I tried to install each of them manually. I received a message that I already have the best driver installed. But it doesn't work, and if you look at my post from earlier, the events log states that installation was not complete.
Thanks for the link to hide updates. If I ever get this installed correctly I will use it.
