I have found my old HP Pavillion DV6000 (sticker dv6226us) and put xp on it. I have never had trouble with the Wireless lan drivers but my Wi-fi just wont work. The installation works and says its fine but device manager doesn't recognize it (yes iv'e restarted) is there anyone that can help me? Thanks - Gus

See if this XP driver will work:
Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver
5.60.350.6
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48501-49000/sp48616.exe
If there is no Wi-Fi adapter showing up in the device manager at all, you may need to install this software restart the PC and use the software controls to turn on the Wi-Fi.
HP Wireless Assistant:
This package contains the HP Wireless Assistant for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The HP Wireless Assistant is a user application that shows the status of individual wireless devices (such as Bluetooth, WLAN, or WWAN devices) and that provides the ability to control the radios for these wireless devices.

Make sure the wireless slide switch on the front edge of the notebook is in the 'on' position.
I once inadvertently turned it off not knowing the switch was there and couldn't understand why the Wi-Fi suddenly quit working.
