Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a used Compaq Presario CQ57 on eBy.

Installed and activated Windows 10.

Updated all the drivers via Windows Update.

When I plug in an Ethernet cable there is no activity on the two LED lights on the Ethernet port.

Device Manager shows Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller.

No errors.

Windows 10 tells me to connect a Ethernet cable.

The cable works on another PC.

Is the port broken?

Thank you.

I had a slightly older version of the Realtek Windows 10 driver that was from January 2022.

Installed this new one.

The port still does not work.

So, I then took a flashlight and pointed it into the port.

There was physical damage.

They managed to break some of the "pins".

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to install the W10 ethernet driver directly from Realtek.

Download, unzip and run the setup application from the W10 driver at the link below.

Realtek PCI GBE Ethernet Family Controller Software - REALTEK

I recommend you install the W10 driver for the SD card reader as well...first file on the list...same process to install.
