HP Pavilion Notebook - 17-f107na (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I have a HP Pavilion Notebook 17-F107na which is around 8 years old now. I want to upgrade my Wi-Fi card as it is currently just a Broadcom BCM943142HM 2.4 ghz single band b/g/n. Copying and pasting text from similar discussions on here, could someone confirm if the below would also work for my model?

  • Broadcom BCM943142 802.11 bgn 1×1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 M.2 Combo Adapter part # 792608-00
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2×2 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter part # 793840-005
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1×1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter  part # 784644-005

Thanks.

Hi:

None of those cards will work because they are of a different form factor (M.2 vice HMC).

The problem with your notebook is that no dual band HMC cards will work properly with the single antenna wire it comes with.

From what I can determine, your notebook comes with an Intel i5-4210U processor, correct?

If so, you can upgrade to this dual band Wi-Fi card, but the Bluetooth may not work with just the single antenna.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

You connect the single antenna wire to the wireless card's 'Main' antenna terminal.

You can usually find this model card on eBay.  Search by the HP part number, not the model of the Wi-Fi card.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the Wi-Fi card removal and replacement procedure.

If you cannot live without Bluetooth, don't upgrade the Wi-Fi card.

Adding a second Wi-Fi antenna properly would require the complete disassembly of the notebook including the display panel area.
