...my laptop does not have an Ethernet port. The salesman at Best Buy said I would just need a hub that connects through the C port to use an Ethernet cable.
I have tried 2 different hubs..one through the C charging port, and one through the USB 3.0 port. Both of the hubs have extra USB ports that work when I try them, but neither Hub allows me to hook up an Ethernet connection successfully. I'm thinking it has to do with either the laptops configuration or some Windows 10 issue.
Anyone can please help?
Many thanks.

I actually used the following adapter and it worked perfectly on my old loan HP machine
https://www.anker.com/products/variant/3port-usb-30-hub-with-ethernet-converter/A7522012
I had 2 more USB 3.0 ports. I don't use it now.
Regards.

I tested the adapter/hub on 6 notebooks from HP, Dell, Microsoft around me right now and they all work.
Please try other USB port, machine may take 10 to 30 seconds to work this out.
Regards.
