HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg1000 (43F53AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently purchased my new HP Pavilion laptop.  I was trying to connect my MS surface pro headphones to the computer.  I have bluetooth turned on.  I placed the headphones in pairing mode, and then went into settings to add a new device via bluetooth.  It just sat there and searched and never found the headphones.  I reset the headphones and attempted to pair it to my phone and it paired in seconds.  Still no way to pair to my laptop.  Is there a way to determine if the bluetooth adapter on the computer is working?  Any other ideas on how to get the headphones to pair to the computer?  They were paired fine to my old computer as well, just cannot seem to get them to pair to the new computer.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

Follow these steps to connect your Bluetooth enabled device to a Windows computer.

Use the Bluetooth settings to establish a connection with your device.

NOTE: The following steps are for Windows 10. If you have a different version of Windows, the steps should be similar.

  1. Make sure the device you want to connect to is discoverable and within range of your computer.

If the device is a headset, make sure it is on and set to Bluetooth. If the device is an Apple iOS or Android mobile device, go to the Settings menu and make sure Bluetooth is enabled and discoverable.

  2. In Windows, search for and open Bluetooth and other devices settings.

If Bluetooth & other devices does not return in the search, your computer might not support Bluetooth.

  3. On the Bluetooth & other devices tab, toggle the Bluetooth setting to On.

    Turning on the Bluetooth toggle

  4. Click Add Bluetooth or other device to start searching for the device.

Adding device on the Bluetooth setting

  5. Click Bluetooth as the kind of device you want to add.

    Choosing Bluetooth device type

  6. Select the Bluetooth device you want to add from the list.

  7. If prompted, enter the PIN, and then click Connect. If a PIN does not display, enter 0000, a commonly used default PIN for many Bluetooth devices.

    Entering Bluetooth PIN

  8. Immediately check for an authorization message on the device you are connecting to and confirm the message or allow access.

    Example of Bluetooth notification

  9. Follow the on-screen instructions on the computer and the device to complete the pairing process.

A confirmation message displays when the devices are paired.

NOTE: If an authentication error displays, too much time has lapsed. Move the devices closer, and then try to pair them again.
