HP Recommended
hp notebook 15-bs146tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I am unable to connect to 5Ghz Wifi with my laptop. My router supports 5Ghz connection. I would like to whether my laptop supports 5Ghz wifi or not. If yes, how to enable such wifi support. If no, what can I do to support such Wifi.

Below is the link to the product specs for your notebook.

It comes with a single band (2.4 GHz only) wifi adapter.

If you want to connect to the 5.0 GHz wifi band you would either have to replace the internal Realtek RTL8723DE wifi card with a dual band AC card or purchase an external dual band USB adapter.

If you want to replace the internal card, this is the only one where both the wifi and bluetooth will work with one antenna cable...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

You can find this model on eBay, or Ali Express.

The card has the same throughput as the RTL8723DE card on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, but on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router, it has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure...
