I have an HPG62-220 and just got a 5G router through my ISP. Purchased a 5G USB wireless adapter. I have spent many hours on the phone with the mfr of the adapter and my ISP to get this to work and I am unsuccessful. My laptop will not update the network adapter/download the software. I got the adapter software to show up in a zip file and followed directions carefully, many times to open and it shows that it is "unsuccessful" in dowloading the adapter software. The mfr suggests doing this in "safe mode" and cancelling all antivirus programs and firewalls. I tried many times. In addition, I had the USB adapter replaced as they thought it might be a defect. All USB ports (6) work with other devices. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
Do all your USB ports work ? If yes that mean nothing wrong with your computer. Now, my question: does the maufacturer supply driver for its product ? What is it ? You may have to download driver using a different machine, extract and copy to your machine to install.
Regards.

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply banhien. Yes all usb ports work fine. Mfr supplys the driver software and I downloaded it but it won't install. 😞 It is an Archer T1U USB wireless adapter. I bought 2 to make sure it wasn't defective. I tried downloading to another laptop and it won't. I try to extract from a zip file from the other laptop but nothing. Thanks again so much for your assistance.

Hi,
I went to its support website and downloaded the zip file. I extracted the zip file as you can see:
The Driver Files folder has 2 sub-folders for Windows 10 64bit and Windows 10 32bit. You just right click Setup.exe file and run as Administrator. It will do the rest.
Regards.

I tried but not working, says cannot install driver software. I had this laptop refurbished with new hardrive this year and wonder if that's why things aren't quiet right. If I download Windows 10 might that help things? Thanks so much for your assistance.
