Hi:

In order to have a cellular connection using a SIM card, your notebook must also have the very expensive and optional WWAN card, which 90% of notebooks don't have.

Go to the device manager.  Click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.

In order for the SIM card to work, you need to see one of these model WWAN adapters listed there.

Now you know why you can't connect to any cellular service.

You could, if your notebook has the two antenna cables necessary for the WWAN card to get reception, buy a used but tested and working WWAN card on eBay or someplace.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the WWAN card removal and replacement procedure.

Open up the notebook and confirm the WWAN antennas are there, and then in chapter 3, page 24 are the supported WWAN cards with their HP part numbers.

You can only install one of those listed and they must be that HP part number.

So, you can do a search by the HP part number for the card you are interested in buying.

I've already suggested that you can probably find one on Ebay by searching by the part number you are interested in.

Then you will be able to see how much they may cost.
