Hi there, I received the previous response from my previous query regarding casting to TV from my HP Pavilion Laptop, I have now bought & installed the replacement WLAN receiver specificed, but I still can't get the laptop to cast to the Samsung Smart TV through Windows 10. Please help. Thank you. Richard 🙂
"Hi:
The wifi adapter your notebook comes with does not support wireless display/miracast.
If your notebook currently has two antennas connected to the wifi card in there now, you can upgrade to this wifi card which supports wireless display on windows 10...
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part #710661-001
The card is readily available on Amazon or eBay.
Do your search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.
Here is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
The wifi card removal and replacement procedures can be found in chapter 5 starting on page 52."

Hey there! @boltron3030, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you have issues casting screen from your laptop to TV.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?
Please share the product number of your PC to assist you better.
As you mentioned you have issues sharing the screen after upgrading the wireless card on your PC.
For the device whose screen you want to mirror, The support for Miracast or Wi-Fi direct requires three things: wireless chipset support, operating system support, and driver support. If your device doesn’t meet all three of these requirements then you’ll have to upgrade your laptop.
Upgrading a wireless card will not help you in casting the screen. The chipset on your laptop should be compatible with Wi-Fi direct only then you can cast the laptop screen to your TV.
I have checked the product specifications of your laptop and your PC is not compatible with Miracast or Wi-Fi direct.
Also, Try the following suggestions.
•Verify that your computer is connected to WiFi.
•Restart your computer. Then restart the wireless display and adapter. If using an adapter, remove the adapter from the TV or monitor, restart your device, reinsert the wireless display adapter in the TV or monitor, and attempt to display again.
•If you are using a wireless display adapter, set the video source to the correct HDMI port (the one that the wireless adapter is connected to). To do this, check the video source settings on your HDTV, monitor, or projects. For instructions, check the information that came with your device or go to the manufacturer's website.
•If the adapter didn’t connect, open the Action Center, click All Settings, click Devices, and then click Connected Devices. Click Add a device, and then select the wireless display or wireless display adapter.
If the issue still persists try updating the wireless display adapter using HP support assistant on your PC and check if it helps.
Or as an alternative, you can purchase an external USB miracast or Microsoft display adapter.

The laptop model is HP Pavilion 17-e153sa.
I replaced the WLAN receiver with a dual band one which someone told me in another post would resolve the issue...

@boltron3030, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
Upgrading the wireless card alone will not suffice you need to have an Intel Wi-Di supported graphics card installed on your PC.
Please refer this article from Intel to know more information about system requirements for Intel Wi-Di support. Link
Please read the instructions on how the Intel wireless display works.
Intel Wireless Display is the successor to the Intel WiDi software which was introduced when Intel's wireless display technology was first introduced.
Using Intel Wireless Display first requires that you have the proper Intel HD Graphics display adapter installed.
Once you get the program installed, you are able to broadcast the contents of your PC screen to other devices that can connect to WiFi. This can be cell phones, tablets, smart televisions and other devices that can connect to your wireless network.
With Intel Wireless Display, you can very easily broadcast photos, slideshows, video playback and even play music in surround sound. The program broadcasts video content in 4K if applicable.
Overall, Intel Wireless Display technology is an excellent way to expand the capability of your television or mobile devices without having to worry about cables.
Refer this article to know more information about Intel Wi-Di. Link
As an alternative, you can use an external USB device like Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter, Miracast or Chromcast on your PC.
