The issue I have been having with my laptop is that after inserting a sim card in the allocated slot for it, I cant find the cellular network option on my laptop to switch it to and start accessing the internet with the sim card connectivity

Every Elitebook 840 G6 has a SIM card slot.
Your notebook is one of the 90% that does not have the optional WWAN hardware that is needed to connect to a cellular network.
All the SIM card does is authorize you to use your cell phone provider's network.
In order for the SIM card to work, your notebook must have one of the following WWAN adapters present in the device manager under the Network Adapters device manager category:
Intel XMM 7360 LTE-Advanced
Intel XMM 7560 LTE-Advanced Pro
Intel XMM 7262 LTE-Advanced
You can find the supported WWAN adapters and part numbers in chapter 3 of the service manual, if you want to try and buy one to install.

Hi Paul, thank you for reaching out with this valuable response. From the attached file, you are correct that my laptop is lacking the optional WWAN hardware, can you guide me on how to have it installed or from where I can have is solved. Thank you very much as I look forward to your response 🙏

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with that, since I don't work for or represent HP.
If you want to install the WWAN adapter yourself, you can find and buy one of the supported WWAN adapters/part numbers and chapter 5 of the service manual provides the instructions for how to install it.
Make sure the antenna wires are there where the card installs before buying a WWAN card.
Otherwise, the only suggestion I can offer would be to contact HP customer support starting at the link below:

Okay I appreciate your help. Let me first have a read on chapter 5 of the service manual and if I will be needing more professional hand to handle the issue, I can then proceed with contacting the support team through the link. Thank you once again
