Hi folks, I do not have the machine in front of me, its a  HP Laptop 15s-d5000  .

this comes with a RTL chipset combi wi-fi and blue tooth, I have been asked to get shot of it and replace it with a BCM chipset card, can you either advice me of which BCM card would be best, or what the size and configuration is, so I can search out one.

they are bringing the machine to me in 4 days

Hopefully looking for a quick answer

Brian

Hi:

HP does not use Broadcom Wi-Fi cards in their PC's.

You'll have to wait until you get the PC and let us know exactly what model Realtek Wi-Fi card is installed because I can only find a service manual for the 15-d5000 model series and there are 3 Wi-Fi card models listed in chapter 3 of the service manual.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

Two of the cards listed, the Realtek RTL8723DE and the Realtek RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapters only come with one antenna wire.

That means in order to upgrade the Wi-Fi card, you would have to completely disassemble the notebook including the display panel to properly run a second antenna wire, and you would have to find and purchase the dual antenna wire kit also listed in chapter 3 of the service manual.

Thanks for the prompt reply. The INXI report tells us it a  RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter

You're very welcome.

That's good news in that you don't have to deal with adding a Wi-Fi antenna.

As you can see in the service manual the only supported cards offered in the model series are Realtek single and dual band Wi-Fi cards.

I recommend that you replace the RTL8822CE Wi-Fi card with this model, which is normally readily found on eBay:

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part #L35282-005

The above card should have a very good chance of working.
