On my Chromebook the Diagnostic report shows "Warning Local Network Can't connect the gateway from Android apps". It also shows Name Resolution, Wi-Fi and Internet Connection Passed the diagnosis. What does this mean and how do I fix the warning?

Hi @Jane220,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
If you are receiving a "Local Network Can't connect the gateway from Android apps" warning on your Chromebook when using Android apps, it may be related to the network settings or permissions. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that your Chromebook is connected to the internet and that your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection is stable.
Check Android App Permissions:
- Android apps on Chromebooks sometimes require specific permissions to access certain network features. Go to your Chromebook's settings:
- Click on the clock in the bottom-right corner.
- Click on the gear icon to open "Settings."
- Scroll down and click on "Apps."
- Find the Android app in question and click on it.
- Check the app's permissions. Make sure it has the necessary network permissions enabled, such as "Wi-Fi" or "Network."
Restart the App:
- Close the Android app that's giving you the warning and then reopen it. Sometimes, this can resolve connectivity issues.
Clear App Cache:
- If the issue persists, try clearing the cache and data for the Android app:
- Go to "Settings" > "Apps."
- Find the Android app in question and click on it.
- Click on "Storage & cache."
- Click on "Clear storage" or "Clear cache."
Check Chrome OS Updates:
- Ensure that your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS. To check for updates, go to "Settings" > "About Chrome OS" > "Check for updates."
Powerwash (Factory Reset):
- As a last resort, you can perform a Powerwash, which is a factory reset of your Chromebook. This will erase all local data, so be sure to back up any important files before doing this:
- Go to "Settings" > "Advanced" > "Powerwash."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your Chromebook.
Check Router Settings:
- If the issue persists and is specific to one app or a group of apps, you can check your router settings. Some apps might require specific port forwarding or network configurations. Refer to the app's documentation for any specific network requirements.
Contact App Support:
- If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can reach out to the developer or support team of the specific Android app you're having trouble with. They may have insights or solutions related to their app's functionality on Chrome OS.
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the "Local Network Can't connect the gateway from Android apps" warning on your Chromebook.
