Last year I upgraded my Compaq 6710b to Windows 10 64 bit and functioning satisfactorily since, not any driver issue whatsoever.
Presently I would like to upgrade the WLAN adapter to a N card, retrieved the correct HP part number in the HP Maintenance & Service Guide (thanks to this forum :manhappy:) and I am ready for ordering.
However I just wondered whether the Broadcom WLAN N module (HP partnr. 441530-002) will be recognized by Windows 10 or whether there are seperate drivers available.
Thanks for your suggestions, regards,
Jelte

Its on the list in your Service Manual so the whitelist will not block it and Windows 10 generally "just works" with Intel wireless so I would say odds are over 99%

You are correct to be concerned. Try the compatibility check tool:
Of all wireless adapters, the Broadcoms seem to have the biggest issues with Windows 10.

Thank for your quick reply. My 6710b was already running on Win 10 without any compatibility issues.
Sorry for asking, but how does the compatibilty tool can help when the new WLAN module in not yet in the 6710b.
Before actually purchasing the Broadcom WLAN N module (HP partnr. 441530-002) I would like to explore whether this module is recoqnized by Win 10. Or should I refrain from ordering it.
Thanks for your suggestions, regards,
Jelte

Good point. I was unable to locate any solid information on this. I have had to install a driver for Broadcom wireless cards on older laptops upgraded to Windows 10 and generally drivers labelelled as Windows 7 drivers do work. I am pretty sure we can get it to work but can't guarantee. You should be able to get such adapter for a few dollars I would think.

Thank you Huffer for all of your replies and support, it has been of great help.
I just installed the Intel 4965AGN MM2 WLAN adapter (HP part nr 441086-002). Since no third antenna was available middle connector #3 was not connected.
Booted my Compaq 6710b and It just went smoothly into (Windows 10) operation without any issues. No seperate drivers were required to be installed.
Wireless speed (used to be 54Mbit/s) has increased by a factor 4 to 5 now.
