Hi:

What model Wi-Fi adapter does your notebook have?

HP Recommended

Hi,

I cant seem to find the wifi adaptor. I looked under network adaptors and I didn't see anything pertaining to wifi, at least not in the name. My computer is a HP Laptop 15-dw3xxx.

If the wifi adapter is not listed anywhere in the device manager and there is no device listed in the device manager labeled as a Network Controller, there is probably a major software/W11 operating system image issue.

When you are in the Device manager click on the View tab at the top of the device manager window.

Then select the 'Show Hidden Devices' option and see if the model wifi adapter your notebook came with shows up as a hidden device.

At least that way if it shows up and you let me know what model it is, I can give you the latest driver for it.

It may install, and it may not.

Hi,

Thank you for helping me with this issue. I clicked on show hidden devices and under network adapters, Microsoft Wi-fi Direct Virtual Adapter and Microsoft Wi-fi Direct Virtual Adapter #2 showed up. I check both for updates and both showed that they were up to date.

You're very welcome.

There is something wrong with the adapter or a major software issue because your notebook should be showing an Intel, Realtek or Mediatek Wi-Fi adapter under the network adapters device manager category.

If your notebook is still under warranty, I recommend that you contact HP customer service and submit a support case under the warranty.

The drivers on electronic devices, like printers and computers require semi-regular updates, or else they won't work well. If you're struggling with WiFi drops (particularly if it's on just one device) check to see if the device's drivers need updating.
