Hi @Ariyah89,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Thanks for explaining clearly. Since your Chromebook shows “Connected, no internet” only on your device, here are some advanced steps that often resolve this.

Forget and re‑add Wi‑Fi

In Settings > Network > Wi‑Fi, select your network > Forget. Then reconnect and re‑enter the password.

Check DNS settings

Go to Settings > Network > your Wi‑Fi > Network > Name servers. Switch from “Automatic” to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4).

Hi @Ariyah89,

Thanks for clarifying that you’re stuck at the setup screen and can’t reach the normal Chromebook settings. Since the device shows “Connected, no internet” even during setup, here are the advanced steps you can try directly from that stage:

Try another network If possible, connect to a completely different Wi‑Fi (friend’s house, school, library). This rules out router compatibility issues.

Use Ethernet with USB adapter If you can borrow a USB‑to‑Ethernet adapter, plug in a wired connection. This often bypasses Wi‑Fi driver problems during setup.

Check router security settings Some older Chromebooks fail to connect if the router uses WPA3 or advanced security. If you can access your router, set Wi‑Fi security to WPA2 temporarily.

Perform a hard reset

Turn off the computer.

Disconnect the AC adapter.

Remove any discs from the disc drive.

Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.

With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.

Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

This clears hardware states and can fix Wi‑Fi card glitches.

If none of the above works, you may need to reinstall ChromeOS using the Chromebook Recovery Utility on another computer.

This creates a USB stick to reload the system.

Because you mentioned you’re only 14 and can’t just buy parts, the most practical next step is to try the hard reset and then test with a different Wi‑Fi network. If the Chromebook still refuses to connect even with Ethernet or recovery reinstall, that points to a failing Wi‑Fi card.
