I have a very odd and specific issue between my laptop and Wifi Repeater (RPT). Whenever I connect my laptop to the RPT's Wifi, it causes the RPT to turn off. No other device in the house has this problem. My laptop also has no problem with the router itself, just the RPT. I have tried several methods to try and get it to work, but nothing has been successful. This is a fairly recent problem, within the last 40 days.

Hi @Frickity-Frack,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Dealing with a Wi-Fi repeater that turns off when connecting a specific device like your laptop is indeed unusual and frustrating. Here are some steps and considerations that might help resolve the issue:
Check for Overheating: Ensure that your Wi-Fi repeater is not overheating when the laptop connects. Overheating could cause the repeater to shut down automatically to protect the internal components.
Update Firmware: Check if there are any available firmware updates for your Wi-Fi repeater. HP often release updates to fix bugs or improve performance. Updating the firmware could resolve compatibility issues.
Reset the Wi-Fi Repeater: Perform a factory reset on the repeater. This can help clear any settings that may be causing the issue. You will need to reconfigure the repeater settings after a reset.
Examine Laptop Network Settings: Investigate the network settings on your laptop. Look for anything that might be unusual or differently configured compared to other devices that connect successfully. Consider disabling network features one by one to test if any particular setting is causing the issue.
Change Wireless Channels: Interference from other networks could be causing the issue. Try changing the wireless channel on both your router and the repeater to less congested channels.
Limit Connection Power: Some devices have settings that manage the power of their wireless transmissions. If your laptop has such settings, try reducing the transmission power. This could prevent the repeater from being overwhelmed by the signal strength.
Check for MAC Address Filtering: Ensure that MAC address filtering is not enabled on the repeater, or if it is, make sure your laptop’s MAC address is allowed.
Inspect Power Supply: Ensure the repeater’s power supply is adequate and stable. A fluctuating power source could cause the device to turn off unexpectedly.
Test with Another Repeater: If possible, test with a different repeater model or brand to determine if the problem is with the specific repeater model or its interaction with your laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Your response was certainly helpful. Unfortunately, none of the solutions were successful. I have been playing with the network adapter settings on my laptop for a few days and no change has made a difference.
