HP Elite x360 1040 14 inch G11 2-in-1 Notebook PC (8Y1Q0AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

The USB-C cable from the dock is connected to my laptop for network and display. Upon powering up this morning the laptop would not recognize the network. Plugging in a different non-HP laptop to the dock worked just fine. After finding that there was a dock firmware update available, I installed the update and now all is well.

I deduce from this that HP is intentionally denying connectivity to force the install of the firmware update.

This is absolutely unacceptable.

Thank you for reaching out to the HP Support Community.

It appears that you were experiencing connectivity issues with your HP Elite x360 1040 14 inch G11 2-in-1 Notebook PC when connected to your dock, which were resolved after a firmware update to the dock. It is important to note that such issues are often due to compatibility errors between the dock's firmware and the notebook's operating system or due to outdated firmware. When a firmware update is applied, it typically resolves these types of issues by improving compatibility and stability.

HP regularly releases firmware updates to address such functionalities and security vulnerabilities to ensure the connected devices work efficiently. It is recommended to keep both your notebook and docking station firmware up to date to prevent similar issues in the future.

I am an HP Employee. Although I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
