Dear HP Support Team,

I am using an HP company-issued laptop and facing network connectivity issues related to proxy configuration.

Currently, my system shows a proxy entry (for example: proxy.company.com:8080), but the proxy host is not resolvable, which is blocking internet access for developer tools such as Docker. Because of this, I am unable to download required images or access external registries.

I do not have a company email ID or direct IT contact details. I would like your guidance on:

  • How to identify the correct proxy server address and port configured for this device, or

  • How to reset/remove incorrect proxy settings if they are no longer valid, or

  • The correct HP/IT support channel responsible for network or proxy configuration on this laptop.

Laptop details:

  • Brand: HP

  • Operating System: Windows

  • Issue Type: Network / Proxy / Internet access

Please let me know the next steps or the appropriate team to contact to resolve this issue.

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

charitha doddaka

Hi @Asdf833,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

Kindly share the laptop  model Name ?

  • Are you connecting from your office network, home Wi‑Fi, or a VPN?
  • Do you know if your organization requires a proxy for all internet access, or is this a leftover configuration?
  • Have you recently switched networks or locations where this issue started appearing?

In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

 Identify Current Proxy Settings

  1. On Windows, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
  2. Check if the proxy is set manually (with a host and port) or if it’s configured automatically
  3. Note down the current entry  for reference.

 Reset or Remove Incorrect Proxy

  • If you suspect the proxy is invalid, toggle “Use a proxy server” to Off and test connectivity.
  • Alternatively, if your company uses automatic configuration, enable “Automatically detect settings”.

I hope this helps.
