is it possible to locate a wifi card and bluetooth combined that will work on the dm4-2180us? i see them on ebay but without bluetooth in the bios there seems little hope. am i wrong?

Your only option would be the Intel Centrino advanced wireless-N 1030 + Bluetooth® combo 802.11b/g/n 1x2 with WiDi support  HP part # 631956-001, listed in chapter 3 of the service manual, and there is no guarantee it will work, since that is not the one that came with your PC.

 

If the card works, so would the Bluetooth.

card arrived today, installed, cold boot and it worked!!! woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!

not only do i have wifi but now for the first time there is bluetooth!!!!!

sooooo very happy. best  $13 investment i ever made. thanx again ;~)
