Laptop has a completely broken wireless button and is stuck on disable.

I tried all the random things i have found on the web for various hp laptops.

installed the newest wireless manager.. installed the hp connection manager. In both says "the device has been disabled by the wireless button"

went into device manager tried to enable there. Went into the adaptor settings in control panel. Its enabled in both.

not only is function-f12 not listed as wireless that also does not work.

latest bios.. all that.

The hardware button is totally non functional. I would like to still enable the wireless if possible. If there is some way to remap the wireless button to a functioning button... like function f12.. or some other software means to enable it. I do see where i can take appart the laptop and take out the wireless, and then disable the function to turn it off by blocking the connection that allows you to disable wireless  but thats a bit much work.

This also seems to be such a common problem with these laptops.. people complain the wireless no longer works and 99% of the time, the button is non functioning.. Your powerbutton will work for just about forever.. keyboard, mostly too.. but those hardware wireless buttons seem designed to fail.

Welcome to HP Support Community

Since the wireless button is broken, you can contact HP Support and check for possible Service Options

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.

Meanwhile you can try these steps to enable the wireless

- Click the Windows "Start" button and select Control Panel.

- Click the Network and Internet item within the Control Panel window.

- Click the Network and Sharing Center item on the following screen.

- Click the "Manage network connections" link on the left side of the window. The Network Connections screen opens within a few seconds.

- Right-click the Wireless Network Connection icon within the Network Connections screen and select Enable.

Thank you and have a great weekend 😊
