I have a HP Pavilion laptop and use Windows 10.

I was having wifi issues (no valid IP configuration) and followed the advice on this blog post to delete and reinstall the network adaptor: https://www.kapilarya.com/wifi-ethernet-doesnt-have-a-valid-ip-configuration-windows-10

Unfortunately I deleted the whole wireless network adaptor instead, and now there are no options to even connect to the Internet.

- I tried scanning for hardware changes but nothing is coming up.

- I tried a System Restore, which said 'System Restore failed while scanning the file system. The drive may be corrupt. You might want to retry System Restore after running chkdsk / R on this disk . An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x80070571).'

- I tried running HP Recovery Manager > Reinstall drivers and/or applications. There is the option to install Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver (which is what I think I deleted). When I click install it says it has installed and to restart my computer. When I restart, however, there is still no wireless option underneath Network adapters in Device Manager.

Could anyone help me reinstall the correct driver for connecting to wifi? Thanks so much.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂

Thank you for posting on HP Forums, MKazi is at your service.

I understand that you deleted the wifi drivers and need help in reinstalling them. I have reviewed your post comprehensively and appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

The drivers (Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver) that you tried to install through the recovery manager are not for the wifi card. These drivers are for the wired ethernet card.

What is the exact laptop model no? This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l

While you respond to that, I suggest you to download and run the HP Support Assistant. This tool will detect the absent drivers and install the most compatible drivers for you.

I sincerely hope this information helps. Please let me know how it goes.

All the best! 🙂

Usually Windows 10 will install missing drivers on booting. I have done that numerious times.

Shut down , wait a couple minutes and boot up. Usually a reboot will also work.

Glad to have you back.

Let me know if you already downloaded and run the HP Support Assistant tool. If yes and if the wifi drivers did not get installed then you may manually search for the drivers via this link: www.hp.com/drivers

When you reply, I would request you to mention your compute model no.

Cheers! 🙂
