Hi:

Unfortunately that is a common issue with the Mediatek MT7630E 802.11bgn Wi-Fi and Mediatek Bluetooth 4.0 WLAN adapter your notebook has, and there are no newer drivers.

There should be two wifi antenna cables attached to that model wifi card.  Open it up and confirm that there are.

The only suggestion I can offer other than buying an external USB wifi adapter, if your notebook does have two antenna cables connected to the wifi card, buy this card on Amazon or eBay.

Do your search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.   The wifi card R & R procedure can be found in chapter 5.

I would not like to invest any further in this machine, will downgrading the system to windows 8 take care of the situation?

Unfortunately, I couldn't say for sure.

If the wifi card hasn't failed on you, then downgrading to W8/8.1 should resolve the problem.

Downgrading to windows 8.1 and installing the relevant drivers did work for a day. But now I'm back up with the same issue, and have no idea how or why is it happening. Do you have any insight on this recurring issue?
