This lapttop does not have an ethernet port so I can hardwire into my internet (my signal is terrible in our new office as it is upstairs but there is an outlet for data cable). Is there a special cord I am supposed to buy to hardwire in?

Sorry no special cord, you need an adapter. I'm using the following adapter and get 2 more USB 3.0 ports

   https://www.anker.com/products/variant/Aluminum-3-Port-USB-3.0-and-Ethernet-Hub/A7514041

HP sent me the following one (in the box of my loan machine)

    http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-usb-type-c-to-rj45-adapter
