I have HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO with Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000. I want 5 GHz dual band capability. What half height WLAN card will work?
I bought the BCM943224HMS 43224 Mini 2102 5103 Half Height WLAN Model: 43224 from Snap Crackle Pop and the Laptop will only boot in safe mode with no networking.
They also sell an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 as shown.
Is this a possibility for use in my HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO? Is there a known working upgrade available?
Thanks,
Paul Franz

Greetings @_Chunder_,
Thanks for the post.
I understand that you have replaced the wireless card on your notebook and the computer is only booting to safe mode with no networking.
Don't worry I will be glad to help.
If you remove the wireless card does your computer boot to the normal desktop? (instead of safe mode.)
Have you installed the drivers for the wireless card on your computer?
Please click here for your older post. Where you were provided with the service manual which provided the Wireless card part numbers compatible with your computer.
However, as you have installed a wireless card that is not mentioned in the service manual and your computer is booting in the safe mode.
Once the computer is on the desktop screen in safe mode.
Press Win + R to bring up the run dialog box.
Enter msconfig in the dialog box and hit enter or click on the Ok button.
This should bring up the System Configuration Window like the screenshot below.
Click on the Boot tab as shown in the screenshot and make sure the Safe boot check box is unchecked.
Click on the OK button to restart the computer saving the changes.
If possible, install the driver from Broadcom website and check.
If the issue persists, as a workaround, you get get a USB wifi dongle which supports dual band.
Let me know if this helped.

After installing the new WLAN Broadcom card and booting in Safe Mode without networking I installed the HP driver sp49541.exe.
After booting again, same problem. Computer freezes at various points. Sometimes getting past the login screen.
Booting in safe mode without Networking does complete boot fine. Safe mode with networking freezes the computer.
I reinstalled the factory Intel Centrino Wireless N card and the computer boots, and works normally.
I concluded that either the Broadcom card is incompatible or is faulty so I returned it. My question is what WLAN card is known to work?
Will the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 work? I have Intel Core I7 processor.
I have a computer model HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO,
Model: 43224

Thanks for the reply, part numbers 630705-001 and 582564-001 are tested on your computer. Click here for the service manual and refer to page number 58.
As an alternative option, you can get a USB wireless dongle for your notebook.
Hope this helped.

Part number 630705-001
Ralink 8190BC8 802.11a/b/g/n 2×2 WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0+HS Combo Adapter for use only with HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC 50xx computer models 630705-001
This is for 50XX models. I have 4100. My computer has no Bluetooth antenna so I presume this card is incorrect. It also doesn't say it supports 5 GHz.
Part number 582564-001
I believe this is the card I tried. It is for DV7-4000 models. Mine is a DV7t-4100. I don't think this is the correct one either.
I haven't tried chat with HP yet. My warranty is up so I assumed that is not available. Maybe phone support? I haven't discovered how to do either yet.
