Just had fiber optic installed and a new dual band router. My laptops need upgraded wireless cards to run the 5ghz. Any suggestions for a compatible card would be appreciated.

Hi:

There is only one dual band wifi card that will work with the one antenna cable both of your notebook have, and that is this one...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)
HP part #L17365-005

The card will have the same throughput as the wifi card your notebook has now on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, but on the 5.0 GHz wifi band, it will have a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS with an AC router, and 150 MBPS with a dual band wireless N router.

The only place I have been able to find the card is on eBay because it has been on back order at the HP parts store for months now.

Below are the links to the service manuals for your notebooks, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure...
