Hi guys.
I have an elitebook 820 g1, which currently has this wifi card:
I want to put the below wifi card in it instead. Now, the below wifi card is not whitelisted, its on the compatible parts section in the handbook, and infact works using the exact same drivers (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28794/Windows-10-Wi-Fi-Drivers-for-Intel-Wireless-Adapters...).
The potential issue is, that this card has come off of a Dell Latitude E7440. My suspicion is that it will not work in the Elitebook 820 g1? Additionally, the below wifi card has a U at the end of the FCC ID, which apparently/ potentially means "BIOS lockdown of wireless module". Please let me know if this will work?
Kind regards,
Oli

Hi, Oli:
If you are in possession of the card, all I can say is pop it in and see what happens.
What I do to test out cards I am not sure will work or not, is I leave the antenna cables attached to the original card, and just let it dangle from the cables.
I install the card I want to test, and if the BIOS doesn't reject it and I see it listed in the device manager, then I shut down the notebook and finish the installation by swapping the antenna cables.
If it doesn't work, then you are not hassled by detaching and reattaching the delicate antenna cables too many times.
If the Dell card does not work, get this one with this HP part number on it...
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part # 710661-001
The card is readily available on Amazon or eBay.
Do your search by the HP part #, not the model of the wifi card.

Anytime, Oli.
Glad to have been of assistance, and that is great news that any Intel 7260 AC wifi card will work in your notebook's model series.
You have a great evening, and enjoy the faster wifi speeds offered by the AC card.
