My Envy laptop is about 5 months old and in the last 2 weeks everytime I log in there is no Internet connection. I've googled the crap out of this, run every fix, unloaded reloaded, restarted, entered every code under the sun and I'm quite positively ready to sling the system back! Hours of my life have been consumed and its totally not acceptable. My 12 year old Toshiba still connects and never had these issues! Has technology gone in reverse?
Hoping someone can come up with the ultimate fix before I return the laptop. From what I've read it's a common problem but I've not found fix to work ...only temporarily.
Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 11 in one of its rare connection occurrences. Same problems.

Hello @LenaT10 .
Have you updated the bios of your equipment?
Before updating the BIOS, check the installed version.
Simultaneously press Windows key + R, a window will open and type msinfo32 and click OK, look for the line that indicates BIOS date and check if the version is the latest version compared to the one on https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers page, if you already checked the version and you don't have the latest version, then download it to update.

Hi@LenaT10,
Thanks for engaging in the HP support community! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand that you need assistance with the wireless connection dropping randomly on your notebook. I’ll be glad to assist you with this.
We need to isolate it to being hardware or software related first.
For better clarity, I would require more information regarding this.
- When did this first begin?
- Did it happen after a software or windows update?
- Have you tried to run any test on the wireless card from F2?
Please try these steps first.
1. Open CMD with Administrator
2. Type: sc config storsvc type= own
( this resets this service to its default state )
3. Restart the PC.
4. Check if this fixes it.
I recommend you try to follow the below steps:
Go to Device manager > select the WIFI drivers under network adapter> Right click go to properties > Under properties go to Power Management Tab> Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
If it does not, please visit this link for further support: HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 10)
If not check this link out: Common fixes for wireless connectivity issues.
The next thing, I would suggest here is to uninstall the wireless drivers from the device manager:
Right-Click on the start button> click device manager> Network adapters>then select the wireless drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the Wifi drivers.
Then restart the computer and check if you are able to go online.
Finally, please update the bios, chipset, and wifi drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers Please select the country and follow the on-screen instructions.
Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer to this link to know how to use HP support assistant.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

My Laptop is top is a HP Envy x360 Convertible 13-ay0xxx. T
The problem started approximately 2 weeks ago and before I upgraded to Windows 11 just the other day.
I've not tried to run any test on the wireless card from F2, I am not familiar with this.
I have already run the command sc config storvc type= own many times and at first that would get me back online for a couple of hours. I would have to run this every time I logged in. Now even that does nothing.
I've already stated most of the information in my original email so I sincerely hope I am not talking with a robot.
I have tried to fix in the device manager and the option Power Management Tab does not exist in my settings.
I have already uninstalled the Wifi driver and restarted and no difference.
The bios were updated just 2 days ago and I couldn't be certain about the chipset and wifi drivers.
I am tired of trying now as nothing works. I shouldn't have to be consumed in trying to fix my new laptop.
Tomorrow I will try the links you have suggested and that is my final attempt before sending the laptop back.
I will update you soon.
