Here is the Manual:
See p. 59 for instructions. Up until about late 2014, HP laptops had a BIOS whitelist that blocked all but the wi-fi cards listed in the Manual from working. The system would not boot. HP has never published a defintive list of the laptop models that do and do not have the whitelist. To the best of my knowledge yours does not have the whitelist but it was made in the earlest time when the whitelist disappeared so I cannot be 100% sure. Unfortunately, the wi-fi modules offered from the factory on your model are not impressive. I wish I could be more definite but please let us know how it goes.
