Hi, I'm having the following issue: as the WiFi connection I'm currently accessing is bad, I bought an ethernet cable to connect to the socket in the wall. Problem is, the laptop doesn't seem to detect the cable.
I already tried many workarounds, including troubleshooting the network, re-installing drivers and rebooting, disabling and enabling again the ethernet option, but nothing works.
As I'm not familiar with using ethernet cables, I'm not sure of what I might be missing here. I assume the computer should still detect the cable even if the socket wasn't actually sending any signal, but this doesn't happen. The driver for ethernet connection should be Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller. Although the system already said I was up to date, I installed the latest one released recently anyway.
Thank you for any input.

Did you test your LAN cable on another computer ? Can you see lights at both ends ?
Regards.
