HP Recommended

So my family found an HP stream 14 that was thrown away. Battery seems to work just fine based on attempting to charge it but the laptop will not turn on or anything. I believe it's the motherboard needs to be replaced. Is there any reason not to salvage it for parts? ( Wi-Fi card, battery, Ram, etc)And if so, what's the best place to do so?
