HP 14 Laptop (30J32AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Since the latest BIOS update and wifi adapter driver update, my Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac adapter disconnects approximately 2 hours after every reboot and is no longer displayed in device manager until I reboot again. Wireless connections are not available until a reboot either.

The event log records this message when the adapter disconnects and disappears.

"Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter : Has determined that the network adapter is not functioning properly."

Log Name: System, Source: RTWlanE, EventID: 5002

This is the first that I've had this issue since I purchased the laptop. There are no driver updates and rollback button on the driver is not available.

When will a new driver be released to resolve this disconnect issue?

You didn't post the driver version and date of the Wi-Fi driver currently installed.

The only suggestion I can offer, if this is not the Realtek Wi-Fi driver currently installed, would be to install the latest driver HP has for the RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter:

2024.10.228.9   Dec 07, 2023

Hey Paul,

The current version is 4/18/2023 - 2024.10.228.3. I'll try the version you provided the link to and get back to you. When I used the HP Support Assistant and checked the website for the latest driver, that one wasn't listed.

🤞

Thanks.

You're very welcome, Brad.

I'm now using the 12/7/2023, 2024.10.228.9 version of the Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter driver on Windows 11 and it's still disconnecting and disappearing after about 2 hours upon reboot. Comes back after a reboot but this is getting annoying to reboot every time I want to use the Internet.
