It depends on what model Wi-Fi adapter the notebook came with.
Chapter 3 of the service manual indicates that HP offered 3 different model Wi-Fi adapters.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac 1 × 1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 802.11ax 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5 (non-vPro)
Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5
The Realtek RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band with an excellent signal.
The Realtek RTL8822CE Wi-Fi adapter has a maximum throughput of 867 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band with an excellent signal.
The Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 Wi-Fi adapter has a maximum throughput of 2,400 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band with a Wi-Fi 6 router, or 867 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band with an AC router.

The HP 255 G8 laptop is a series of MANY different models/products. I don't know which one is yours. From page 2 of the manual, your machine could have 1 of the following adapters
Integrated wireless options with dual antennas (M.2/PCIe)
Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth® 5 (MU-MIMO supported)
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 + Bluetooth 5 (non-vPro®) (802.11ax 2 × 2, MU-MIMO, supporting gigabit file transfer speeds)
Integrated wireless options with single antenna (M.2/PCIe)
Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac 1 × 1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 (MU-MIMO supported)
Please check Device manager to see which one is on your machine then work out its speed.
Regards.

That doesn't help.
You can find the model of the wifi adapter your notebook has by going to the device manager.
Click to expand the Network adapters device manager category, and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

The 255 G8 you are interested in purchasing should have a product number.
Let me know what the product number is, and I can check to see if the parts list for the product number will let us know what model Wi-Fi adapter it comes with.
HP 255 G8 Notebook PC (1W9Z4AV) - Specifications | HP® Support
For example in the above link, the product number is 1W9Z4AV.

HP 255 G8 Laptop, 15.6" FHD Screen, Intel Core i5-1135G7, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD, Webcam, Wi-Fi, Windows 11 Home
So, I can't find the product number, but if you search this information above on Amazon it will bring up the laptop I am looking at purchasing.

The best I (or anyone else here can do) would be to let you know that according to the info you posted, the notebook comes with an AC Wi-Fi adapter, which means that it is one of the two Realtek cards I posted.
The notebook does not come with a Wi-Fi 6 adapter.
The technical details can be found at the bottom lower left side of the webpage.
Also, there is something wrong with the description of the model number.
All 255 G8's come with AMD processors, not Intel.
So, the ad must be for a 250 G8 if the information provided is otherwise correct.
