Hey guys,

I tried to reinstall windows 7 64 bit on my HP635.

Reinstalling the OS worked so far but i cant get the Networks drivers to work.

I tried o install every Network driver from the support site but some of them didnt work and the ones that worked didnt solve the Problem.

My device Manager still tells me that there is no driver for:

Network Controller (Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_1461103C&REV_01 )

Generic Bluetooth Adapter (Hardware ID: USB\VID_03F0&PID_311D&REV_0001 )

Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller (Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_3577103C&REV_05 )

Using the windows update function to search for drivers doesnt work aswell.

I found a threat on this forum from 2015 from HPNoob78 ( https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Archive-Read-Only/HP-Drivers-Network-Controller-amp-USB/td-p... )

someone called Terminator Posted some files but the links doesnt work anymore.

Could someone help me to get this network thingy work or maybe just reupload those files for me?

Help Would be appreciated and thanks in advance for any answers.

Hi:

You need these Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers for the Atheros Wi-Fi adapter your notebook has:

Wi-Fi:

Atheros 2011 Wireless LAN Driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53261.exe

Bluetooth:

Atheros Bluetooth Driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53262.exe

Thanks for the fast reply!

I installed all the drivers you gave me and a few more i found on the official support site  ( https://support.hp.com/de-de/drivers/hp-635-notebook-pc/5086719 ). Afterall the devices i mentioned above look like they have a driver installed (at least does the windows device manager say so). Even though that one of the installer gave me the error "Bluetooth device must be turned on to contiue" so i cant finish it 😅

But i still have 2 Problems:

1. Now i have a new "unknown" device that has no driver (Windows Device Manager calls it "PCI-Device") I googled its Hardware-ID and it seems to be the card reader which should not be the main problem so far.

The 2nd Problem is that even though there is the Wireless-Symbol from win7 in my tray now, it says it cant find any networks so the main problem that i still cant connect to the internet remains 😕

Maybe you can help 🙂
Thanks in advance

You're very welcome.

The PCI device does need the Realtek SD card reader driver:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52186.exe

Unfortunately, I wouldn't know what the problem could be as far as the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth not working.

The Wi-Fi should have worked as that was the latest driver for W7 for the Atheros Wi-Fi adapter.

Hey there,

Tanks for your answer 🙂

I cant believe it!

There was a Button to turn on/off the wifi/Bluetooth Adapter.

This Button didnt work all the time and it seems i just forgot to try to push it once after the driver was installed😅

So finally the WiFi kinda works but it just Shows 2 or 3 Networks allthough there are many more. I wouldnt care but it doesnt find MY network either so im still in trouble 😅

Btw i have a 2.5g and a 5g access to my Router so this cant be the Problem i guess.🤔

You're very welcome.

Your notebook's Wi-Fi adapter only works on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band, so no 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi networks will show up.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to make sure your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band SSID is activated.

I may have found a newer Wi-Fi driver for your notebook.

If your Wi-Fi adapter is the Atheros AR9285, see if this driver works.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70859.exe

It is around 4 years newer than the one I gave you the other day.

Maybe that will make a difference.

Many thanks i really appreciate your help!

I will try the newest driver you gave me when im home, maybe that will help.

Just in case maybe you describe me more what you mean with "make sure your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band SSID is activated."  So i can check this too.

Greetings 😃✌️

Anytime.

Sorry maybe you missed my question above:

What did you mean with "make sure your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band SSID is activated." ?

My Phone finds both for example, the 2.4 and the 5g access so they must be activated i think. If that is what you meant with that🤓

HP Recommended

Yes, that's what I meant.

If the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band is enabled and that driver didn't do anything, unfortunately, I don't know what the problem could be.
