Hi @jilinjames,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how inconvenient it is to lose Wi-Fi access, especially after a system update. Let’s go over a few questions to help pinpoint the cause and some steps to get your Wi-Fi working again.
- Did you notice if the Wi-Fi driver was specifically included in the Windows update, or were any network drivers listed?
- Have you tried connecting to the internet using an Ethernet cable or a mobile hotspot to verify if it’s only the Wi-Fi adapter that's affected?
- In Device Manager, does the Network adapters section show your Wi-Fi adapter, or is it missing altogether?
In the meantime, let's try these steps.
Re-enable the Adapter in Device Manager: Go to Device Manager, expand Network adapters, and check if your Wi-Fi adapter is listed. If it is, right-click on it and select Enable if it’s disabled. If it’s missing, go to View > Show hidden devices and see if it appears there.
Install or Update Wi-Fi Driver from HP’s Website: Head to the HP Support site and look up your model (HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC, product number F2C59PA#ACJ) to download the latest Wi-Fi driver. Installing it directly from HP can resolve any compatibility issues introduced by Windows updates.
Run the Network Adapter Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, find Network Adapter, and run the troubleshooter. This tool might detect and resolve configuration issues affecting the Wi-Fi adapter.
Reset Network Settings: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status, scroll down, and select Network reset. This will remove and reinstall network adapters and reset network settings, which can often resolve connectivity issues after updates.
Uninstall the Latest Windows Update: If the issue began immediately after the update, you may need to roll back to a previous version. Go to Settings > Update & Security > View update history > Uninstall updates. Choose the most recent update and uninstall it to check if it restores Wi-Fi functionality.
Please let me know if these steps bring the Wi-Fi option back, and we’ll continue troubleshooting if necessary.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
