The 3160HMW Wireless card in my ca. 2014 HP ENVY laptop is starting to malfunction (drops connection to the wireless modem frequently when other devices are not experiencing this problem).  I cannot find a new replacement in kind card.  Will a 7260HMW card work in this computer, or is there a better option?  Do I need to download some matching wireless card drivers?

Hi:

Yes, this model 7260AC Wi-Fi card should work fine.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

You can find plenty of them for sale on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the Wi-Fi card.

W10 will automatically install the Wi-Fi driver, or you can get the last drivers released for that model card directly from Intel.

Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Intel® Wireless 7260 Family

Intel also has the driver for the 3160AC

Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160

You may want to try that first if you have not done so already.

The driver may fix the problem and eliminate the need to replace the card.

And here is the last Bluetooth driver released by Intel which works on both model Wi-Fi cards.
