HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000 (3Y838AV)

HP Keyboard, discoverable sometimes and won't connect/pair to Bluetooth. Has connected before and this issue previously was resolved by disconnecting and repairing again.

Now, no advice results in pairing.  I have followed all HP advice and still have a problem.

Hi @pk501, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Spectre x360 keyboard is discoverable but won’t connect via Bluetooth, try these steps:

Basic Checks:

  1. Ensure Keyboard is Charged – If it's a detachable or separate Bluetooth keyboard, charge it fully.
  2. Check Battery & Power Settings – Go to Device Manager > Bluetooth > Your Keyboard and disable "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
  3. Verify Bluetooth is Enabled – Check Settings > Bluetooth & Devices to ensure Bluetooth is on.

Troubleshooting Steps:

Forget and Reconnect Device

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices.
  2. Find your HP keyboard and click Remove Device.
  3. Restart your laptop and try pairing again.

Restart Bluetooth Services

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Find the following services and restart them:
    • Bluetooth Support Service
    • Bluetooth User Support Service
  3. Set their Startup Type to Automatic.

Update Bluetooth Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
  2. Expand Bluetooth, right-click your Bluetooth adapter, and choose Update Driver.
  3. Select Search automatically for drivers.
  4. If no update is found, check HP’s support page for the latest Bluetooth drivers.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.

Reset Bluetooth Adapter

  1. Disable & Enable Bluetooth:
    • Go to Device Manager > Bluetooth > Your Adapter.
    • Right-click and select Disable device.
    • Wait a few seconds, then Enable device.
  2. Restart your PC and retry pairing.

Use Hardware Troubleshooter

  1. Open Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. Type: msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic
  3. Follow on-screen instructions.

Try Pairing in Airplane Mode

  • Turn on Airplane Mode, then try pairing.

Check for Interference

  • Keep other wireless devices (e.g., headphones, speakers) away.

If none of these work, try testing it with another device. If the issue persists, the keyboard may be faulty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
