I am having issues with connecting to a wifi service.
My both my phones are able to connect to the wifi in question as well as using my mobile phone as a hot spot for my laptop, however when i try to conect my laptop to thew wifi service i get no internet - connected or unable to connect to internet.
Windows is up to date will all updates installed, have tried to uninstall drivers and reinstall as well as reset network settings yo no avail, also ran sfc and no issues found as well.
On a rare occasion it may connect but 95% of the time connection fails
any ideas would be great,.

Hi @BenRamsay2014,
Thanks for the update — really appreciate you trying all those steps already, and I totally understand how frustrating this can be.
Since you’ve already reinstalled drivers from both Microsoft and HP with no luck, and other devices work fine on the same network, it does seem like your laptop’s Wi-Fi adapter may be having trouble specifically with that router’s frequency or configuration.
Here are a couple of additional things to try:
1. Forget & Reconnect with Custom Settings
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks, remove the network.
Reconnect manually, but this time:
Click “Connect”, then “Properties”
Set the network profile to Private
Try both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands (if your router supports both).
2. Disable Power Saving on Wi-Fi Adapter
Go to Device Manager > Network adapters, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Power Management tab.
Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.
Keep us posted, and hang in there — we’ll figure this out with you! 🙌

If you're having trouble connecting your HP Laptop 14s-dq5111TU to a Wi-Fi network while other devices connect without issues, here are some steps you can follow to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:
Basic Checks
Ensure Wi-Fi is Enabled:
- Make sure your laptop's Wi-Fi is turned on. You can do this by checking the Wi-Fi icon on your taskbar to confirm it is active.
Restart Devices:
- Restart your laptop and the Wi-Fi router. This can often resolve temporary connectivity issues.
Check Airplane Mode:
- Confirm that Airplane Mode is turned off.
Network & Sharing Center
Network Configuration Settings:
- Navigate to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.
- Click on 'Change Adapter Settings'.
- Right-click your Wi-Fi connection and select 'Properties'.
- Ensure that 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)' is enabled.
Check IP and DNS Settings:
- In the same 'Properties' menu, select 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)' and click 'Properties'.
- Ensure it's set to 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically'.
Device Manager
Update Network Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager.
- Find 'Network adapters' and locate your Wi-Fi adapter.
- Right-click the adapter, and select 'Update driver'.
- Choose 'Search automatically for updated driver software'.
Reinstall Network Drivers:
- If updating doesn't work, right-click the adapter and select 'Uninstall device'.
- Restart your laptop to reinstall the drivers automatically.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
