HP Notebook 15-dy1771ms
Microsoft Windows 11

The Realtek RTL8821CE has become very unstable and continuously drops out and doesn't provide speeds above 1Mbps.

I know the AX210 wifi card won't work, from experience... (is recognised and WIN11 says it's working properly, but it's always turned off and can't be turned on, probably due to it requiring 2 antennae)

Has anyone tried upgrading to wifi6 and know what card/s will function with the 15-dy1771 ?

Hi @DragonSpur

having only one wi-fi antenna, the only better alternative is the

Realtek Wi-Fi 6 RTL8852BE-VS+ Bluetooth 5.3
N26166-005

Search by part number to find the one with a single antenna. But remember that you can only achieve the 600 Mbps speed with a Wi-fi 6 compatible router.

• 802.11ac : max 433Mbps
• 802.11ax : max 600Mbps

@DragonSpur

The Intel AX210 does require two antenna wires to work properly but the only thing not having two antenna wires installed is the missing Aux wire provides Bluetooth reception.

Your notebook must have a BIOS whitelist which prevents various model Wi-Fi cards from working.

I would have be a week's pay the AX210 would have worked just fine in your notebook, and I guess I would have lost.

The only other Wi-Fi 6 card that has any chance of working would be this one, but there is no way I can guarantee it will given what happened with the AX210.

I can't find any related posts where someone upgraded the Wi-Fi card in that model series.

Have you tried the latest Realtek Wi-Fi driver?

Version 2024.10.229.1

Looks like HP just uploaded this driver on Sept 12th to various PC's support pages.

Hi, @resistencia

I recommended the Realtek Wifi6 card to another forum member assuming it was a 'no-brainer' upgrade, and it didn't work on a relatively new notebook, much to my surprise.

Thanks Paul. I've just installed the latest driver you listed, it has not helped. I will look into the wifi card you mentioned. I will update this forum once I find a solution.

Thanks Resistencia.  I will look into the RTL8852BE-VS card. Previously I was only able to find the two antennae version. I will update this forum once I find a solution.

You're very welcome.

You´re welcome, to find the wi-fi card with a single antenna you must use the part number.
