Wow, really!?

It's completely ABSURD that they want you to stick with a STARTER version of Windows, it's just nonsense! That version of Windows itself advises you to upgrade to at least a Home Premium to unlock more features!

Well, last week I returned the laptop to my friend the way it was, I explained to him all this, then I turned it on to show him and the wireless was working fine, so I just told him it was an intermittent issue. Right after that, I started thinking that it could be related to wireless encryption, couldn't it? Have you guys tried all kinds of protection? And of course even a completely open wireless on the router's configuration?

Anyway, just hope someone (HP?) brings a solution, it's almost clear that this is a simple driver issue... it can't be hardware since it works on that piece of cr*p that is the Starter version 😞

I have the same problem, actually it works normal with Windows 7 Starter since I received from my delivery until I accidently installed another OS without partitioning for dual-boot, Jolicloud, a Linux-based OS. I attempted to install Windows 7 Ultimate, it's a success but with wireless failure but I use back Jolicloud, it has no problem at all. Tried back to Windows 7 Starter but the problem still persists. I would might send this netbook back to HP for repair/replacement.

Hi,

Uninstall your current driver for boradcom wireless.

Resource:
Uninstalling Software in Windows 7

Uninstall or change a program in Windows 7

Try:

Broadcom Wireless here (ver 5.60.48.35   for 32/64 bit Win7)

I've tried that many times before with 3 different versions of drivers of March and May. It doesn't work, I am now relying on Windows Update to do something. This morning I turn it on, the wireless works for few minutes and then start to return to its problem. Is there a log I can check through this driver activity? And I tried to connect with Realtek ethernet, it repeats a few attempt to connect to the internet. It only successfully connect to it when I disabled the Broadcom wireless. It seemed there might some conflict between drivers there.

In my opinion it will be good to contact with HP. How to do it all informations here (just choose Your country).

The more people say about this issue, the greater chance that this problem will be solved.

At last, my problem is solved by installing user-assisted driver installer to help me get the correct driver. So far now no hiccups occurred in my wireless, and it could detect new wireless around me. It had no problem with starting up from hibernation as well. The driver installer repairs the Realtek Ethernet driver which I presume it is the culprit.

What is it? where did you get it?

I started this thread.  My HP mini came with XP and upgraded to Window 7 and then the wireless problems began.

I have windows 7 64 bit installed now.  I tried everything under the sun and nothing was a permanent fix for the wireless problem.  But I found something that works 100% of the time for me.

AFTER YOU BOOT UP YOUR HP MINI IN WINDOWS 7 AND WIRELESS INDICATES NO AVAILABLE CONNECTIONS JUST PUT IT TO SLEEP (NOT HIBERNATE)  AFTER IT'S IN SLEEP MODE HIT A KEY OR SPACEBAR.   AFTER WINDOWS COMES UP YOU SHOULD BE SEEING WIRELESS CONNECTIONS.   THIS WORKS FOR ME 100% OF THE TIME FOR AT LEAST A MONTH NOW.

I thought this was possibly something that was only happening with my computer. I have the HP Mini with this broadcom wireless chip. Has anyone came up with a solution yet?

I have the same thing that everyone else has reported: sometimes the wireless networks show up in the list, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes I will be connected to my home network, then it will disconnect, then that network will not be in the list, whereas other wireless networks are in the list. The only way I've found to get my home network back is to reboot the actual router. I know its not a problem with the router because my Droid phone stays connected to it and works fine even with the laptop drops the connection.

I have my comptuer set up with JoliCloud in a dual boot situation, and JoliCloud never has a problem connecting. So that makes me think that it is a Windows driver problem for sure.

I have exactly the same as previous poster, going from xp to win7 pro 64.  I also have a dual boot with UBUNTU and wireless with UBUNTU works perfect everytime, just Windows drops my wireless and then It can't even find any wifi spot when there are plenty and like I said they are found and work just fine with Linux.  I'll try the workaround for now (Thanks! donnyboy), but this driver bug really needs to be fixed.  Definetely it doesn't have anything to do with the router or network.
