I am looking for a compatible WLAN card that has dual band support for my HP-14 cf0013dx. I was looking in the maintenance guide for this laptop and found this card:

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9461 802.11 AC 1×1 WiFi + Bluetooth 5 Combo Adapter (non-vPro)(MU-MIMO supported) L25889-005

Before I buy this card I would like to know if this laptop will actually support it as I can only find it on eBay. My laptop has only one antenna and I believe the Realtek RTL8723DE is currently installed since it only supports b/g/n.

Hi:

 

I do not believe that the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9461 802.11 AC card will work.

 

The 9461 is what is known as a CRF (companion RF) card, and the easiest way to explain what that means is the card is not a 'complete or whole' standalone wifi card.  It must use certain supported Intel processors in order to work.

 

Folks that have tried to install that card--even if the notebook presumably has a processor that should support the card, indicate that it does not show up in the device manager.

 

Conclusion...that card will only work in PC's that it originally came with.

 

I recommend you install this dual band AC wifi card instead...

 

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

 

You can find this model on eBay, or Ali Express,

The card will have the same 72 MBPS throughput as the original wifi card on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, but on the 5.0 GHz wifi band, it will have a max throughput of 433 MBPS when you have an AC router with an excellent wifi signal strength.

 

It has the same wireless specs as the 9461, but does have the older BT version 4.2.

Awesome! Yea, I went ahead and ordered that Realtek dual band card. It seems that other people in the forums were having issues with the intel card. Thanks for the quick response.
